When a Collegewise family experiences some anxiety about whether or not a particular school should go on the student’s list, we remind them that applying to a college doesn’t necessarily mean the student must go there.
You should always have good reasons for applying to any school, and you
shouldn’t go crazy and apply to 20 colleges. But if you have a few
schools you’re not sure of, remember that you don’t have to be sure yet.
For now, you’re just applying.
Applying is like asking a college on a date. You’re not yet formally committing to a full-blown relationship. That might sound obvious, but recognizing that applying to a college is different from actually deciding to attend can relieve common doubts or even family disagreements.
