I have several friends who never seem to feel stressed about their jobs. They don’t bring work home literally or emotionally. They don’t work evenings or weekends. It’s not that they don’t care or that they don’t work hard while they’re on the job. And it’s not because they somehow managed to find perfect jobs that align with what they’re passionate about. They just have unflappable positivity. They choose to focus on what’s good about work rather than on the parts they don’t like. They don’t worry whether or not they’ll get the promotion or the raise or the credit. They just smile and assume that things will work out OK. Why wouldn’t they? To them, life is good. Work might as well be, too.
The best part? They’re very successful. In fact, they’re at the top of their professional games.
I’ve written before about the contagious nature of positivity (here and here). But the more I meet, know, or read about people who are doing well in their careers and in their lives, the more evidence I see that their positivity was a factor in their success, not a result of it.
If you’d like to learn more about positivity taking you where you want to go, check out the authors I mention in posts here and here.
