Seth Godin’s recent blog entry discusses how he has thought of his career as a series of projects, not jobs. Rather than just listing titles and roles on a resume, he’s approached each job as an opportunity to create, initiate, change, or otherwise get something done and make an impact. The jobs were simply the platforms for him to do these things.
Many high school students approach these years as a time to collect activities and titles to list on a college application. But those are also often the students who spend most of their time busy being busy.

The titles and roles may be similar to those of the other applicants. But the difference will be just how much the project-focused group actually gets done.
