As students close the book on yet another year of high school, consider taking the time to thank a teacher who:
Motivated you
Took the time to help you after class
Wrote your letters of recommendation
Made you look forward to class
Advised your club
Chaperoned the dance you planned
Made a difference
Gave you help, advice or encouragement when you needed it
Inspired you to study history, English or physics in college
Took an interest in your success
Never gave up on you
Stop by after class. Send an email. Write a note. But take the time. You don’t have to do this for every teacher, and your thanks should always be sincere. But some teachers deserve your thanks and acknowledgement. Make sure you give it to them.
And while you’re at it, consider thanking your counselor, too.
