The college search and application process is full of important decisions. Should you take AP chem.? Should you apply early decision? Should you major in business, or go to school out of state, or apply to the same schools your friends are considering? It can be overwhelming trying to make the right choices knowing that each one can have such a big impact down the road.
If you’d like some help making better decisions, Chip and Dan Heath’s book, Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Work and Life, gives you a great model to use. It’s not a college admissions book and they don’t tell you whether or not going to Yale will necessarily lead to a better job. But they do tell you how to test assumptions like that, as well as how to ensure that you’re using the right kind of information to make good decisions for yourself.
Don’t miss the resources on the right side of the web page (link is in the book title above) to get a sense of how the model works.
