It’s a late blog post today as I’ve been without Internet access (and on the phone with the provider) for a good chunk of the day.
Patrick O'Connor, the associate dean of college counseling at the Cranbrook-Kingswood School, is one of those bloggers who makes me nod my head in agreement whenever I read his stuff. Here’s his latest, this one for counselors on how to best help kids who’ve received bad admissions news.
The day important admissions news arrives can feel permanently life-changing. But no adult says, "Since that magical day I got into Cornell, my life has been an uninterrupted string of success and happiness," any more than they might say, "From the day Cornell said no, my life plummeted in a downward spiral from which I never recovered."
Whatever the news may be, let's all remember that this is just one
day. There are plenty of days ahead for students to take advantage of.
