We're looking for people with experience in selective college admissions offices to join us as Collegewise counselors to open, run and grow our new offices opening this spring in New York City, Boston, Long Island,
and several markets in New Jersey.
About Collegewise
We do college counseling a
little differently here. Our goal isn’t
to get every kid who works with us into a name-brand school. Instead, we want to show families just how
many great colleges are out there, lower their stress, and inject some much
needed perspective into the college admissions process. We also volunteer with several organizations
committed to improving access to higher education for under-resourced
students. Since 1999, we’ve helped over
5000 students attend 700 different colleges.
What does a Collegewise counselor do?
You will work with a caseload
of 30-60 students (most of whom are juniors and seniors) to help them find, and
apply to, the right colleges for them.
You’ll also be in charge of growing and running a new Collegewise
office. That means lots of opportunities
for public speaking, building relationships with high school counselors, and
thinking of creative ways to do an even better job for your customers. You might be hopping off the fast track to a
slot as a dean of admissions to join us, but you’ll be coming to a place where you
can work hard, help kids and parents, and have your voice heard in an
educational, entrepreneurial environment. I'm clearly biased, but really, this is a pretty
great place.
What’s the next step?
If your interest is piqued,
get to know us a little better by visiting our website. Find out more about what we do, who you’d be
working with, and what we believe. If
you like what you read and think you could find a professional home here,
please send a resume and cover letter to jobs@collegewise.com. Like a great college essay, an effective cover
letter should help us get to know who you really are. Don’t be afraid to be
yourself—smart, thoughtful, or maybe even funny. Just don’t be generic. This position pays
$40-60K depending on experience and would ideally start in March-April 2013,
but we could adjust the starting date to as late as early May for the right
candidate. If you have questions about
the job, please email the above address rather than call. I promise to respond to you quickly.
I’d love to hear from you, but if
I don’t, I hope you find a great professional fit someplace else.
