My college buddy, Shane, reads my blog every day (his son is only
six, so he’s a good friend to be a daily reader). After I posted about
the Khan Academy last week, Shane sent me this text.
"Dude. Khan Academy is so awesome. Economics is great on here."
I think that’s notable, especially because Shane is a cardiologist.
You might think that the only way to be successful is to get into a
prestigious school. But just being someone who’s intellectually
curious, who’s eager to learn new things outside of what’s familiar and
easy goes a long way in college admissions and in life. Shane is
successful for a lot of reasons. One of them is that he’s the kind of
person who when introduced to a website with over 3,000 tutorial videos
for high school students, he clicks in and looks for things he’d like to
know more about.
Here’s a past post on Shane and how he turned his time at a not-so-prestigious college into a prestigious medical career.
