Never to be sold on Ebay
I always wonder if the celebrities actually visited the stores where I see their signed photos; I mean, did Jerry Seinfeld really bring his clothes to my dry cleaner in Irvine, CA?
But you don’t have to wonder if the signature on the front of this Collegewise brochure is legit. Kim Burnell is something of a legend at Collegewise. As a high school student, she single-handedly referred about a dozen of her friends to us. After high school, she worked for us during the summers as our Collegewise Intern Extraordinaire. Now a junior at UCLA, Kim is training our new interns how to do the job Kim-style. She still appears in a few places on our website, and she just landed on the cover of our brand new brochure.
So to anyone who wonders if this UCLA-clad student on our brochure actually came through the Collegewise program (or if she actually goes to UCLA), she did…and she does!
The company that eats together…
July 4th Barbecues? Any company can do that. And we like to mix things up here at Collegewise. So we got a little crazy and had a July 6th barbecue at Kevin’s house to kick off our summer and our 2008 senior season.
This isn’t the crispest photo of the evening, but truth be told, there were many strongly-worded warnings expressed like, "Don’t post a picture of ME eating a cheeseburger!" and "Don’t post a picture of ME eating potato salad" and "Don’t post a picture of ME eating a potato salad-topped cheeseburger (with extra cheese)!" So let’s just get this out of the way. We ALL ate. We ate more than we needed to. And we all enjoyed ourselves.
College Summit
Several of us are gearing up for (or have already completed) workshops with College Summit,
a non-profit organization dedicated to helping under-resourced students get into college. Arun (Los Angeles) and Jennifer (Irvine) are working as directors of college counseling, Breda (North White Plains) is working as a college counselor, and Kevin (Irvine) will be working as a writing coach to protect students from cliché
Ask The Expert…at 5 a.m.
This just in–there is absolutely no traffic, and we mean NO TRAFFIC on the 5 freeway at 4 a.m. on Fridays. Last month, Kevin was featured on Fox morning news in LA for their "Ask The Expert" segment. And when Fox says "morning news," they aren’t fooling around. The segment aired live at 5:30 a.m., and let’s just say while Kevin was waiting in the green room, the production assistant had to make an entirely new pot of coffee. Twice. If you’re so inclined, you can view the (early morning) video here.
